Revolution Power Yoga will be hosting a consecutive nine-week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) , lead by Tom Mullen.

Developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn in the late 1970s at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is a well-structured program aimed at assisting individuals in coping with stress, pain and illness through the practice of mindfulness. This involves directing one’s attention to the present moment without passing judgment.

The central objective of MBSR is to impart to participants the skills to cultivate a non-judgmental awareness of their thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. The program encompasses a variety of mindfulness meditation techniques, gentle yoga, and awareness exercises. Participants are strongly encouraged to incorporate these practices into their routine, engaging in them regularly during both formal sessions and daily life activities.

The fundamental elements of MBSR encompass:

1. Mindful Meditation: Engaging in diverse meditation practices like body scan, loving-kindness, and mindful breathing to heighten awareness and focus.

2. Body Awareness and Yoga: Integrating gentle yoga routines to foster body awareness and enhance physical well-being among participants.

3. Mindful Movement: Emphasizing activities like walking meditation that instill mindfulness in everyday actions.

4. Group Dialogues: Encouraging participants to partake in discussions to exchange experiences, insights, and challenges linked to their mindfulness journey, fostering a supportive community environment.

5. Personal Practice: Advocating daily mindfulness exercises beyond formal sessions to seamlessly integrate mindfulness into daily routines.
