Join the 6th annual SHIFRUNS, a 20-run ski/snowboard challenge held annually on Vail Mountain, in memory of Brian G. Shifrin. Brian fought his ALS battle for 2.5 years with strength, peace, humor and Billy Joel. He was a staple to his family, friends, community and the reason why we are SHIFSTRONG. ALS robbed him at the young age of 43. He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, coach, lawyer and friend. At the start of 2019 the disease really started to progress in his body and the need for a caregiver was apparent. SHIFRUNS was created by his sister, Pam Shifrin (a Vail local), in hopes to create ALS awareness and raise money to help with his care. Pam was so humbled by the support, raising thousands of dollars, that she vowed to continue SHIFRUNS in his memory.
Every year, participants hit the slopes at their own pace, wherever they choose on Vail Mountain. Steady’s Deck, just west of the top of chair 2(Avanti), is our homebase. Feel free to leave things there, come back to rest, or enjoy complimentary Village Bagel bagels, snacks and drinks! We are proud to tell you that we are 100% run by volunteers, and all proceeds from this event go directly to supporting ALS warriors and research.
Upon completing your 20 runs, gather at Cucina in The Lodge at Vail for the Aprés Party. Enjoy giveaways, food, libations, a silent auction, raffle, and live music. Cucina generously donates 25% of all sales, so indulge in dinner and drinks to support the cause. Plus, thanks to our partnership with 10th Mountain Whiskey, 75% of sales from their vodka and whiskey drinks will also be donated.
We know it’s a Tuesday. We know not everyone is available. You can complete this challenge any day, on any mountain.
No skis? No problem! Support us by joining our Aprés party in Vail or from any where in the world for our virtual silent auction.
Even if you’re not in Vail, you can still participate in SHIFRUNS from anywhere. Register and let us know your location, and they will provide you with everything you need to join the movement.
You can even just register to fundraise. Let me know this cause means something to you and help us reach out goal.

When you become a SHIFRUNS skier/rider:

Help spread ALS awareness.

Attain a minimum goal of $200 in sponsorship.

Must have epic pass or purchase Vail Mountain day pass to participate. (please let us know if you need assistance with this)

When you start your day, pick up your SHIFSTRONG shirt and wrist band at Steady’s deck, also where food and drinks are provided.

We will all gather at Steady’s Deck for a group picture at 2:00pm.

With your registration fee of $40, you’ll receive our SHIFSTRONG t-shirt, your first Epic Western Aprés drink and one raffle ticket to win raffle prizes. Additional raffle tickets may be received with a suggested donation of $20 each.

REFER A FRIEND: Refer the most new SHIFRUNS participants, you will receive an additional raffle ticket. Make sure they enter your name in the registration form.

How far can you go? Travel the most distance while you complete your 20 runs and win a prize. Distance can be entered under “Get Involved” in your profile, day of event by 4pm.
