Car camping allows for more substantial gear and the chance to live a little larger when it comes to open-air cooking. Ideal for those who want a great outdoor stove but need to maximize space, the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro 2 Burner Stove combines high-output burners with a compact design.
This dual-burner stove unfolds with two flip-out legs into a full-size tabletop camp cooking stove. When packed up, it becomes a slim 1.4 inches high, fitting neatly into tight storage spaces in a car or camping van. Each burner delivers 11,000 BTUs of heat, with individual flame adjusters for versatile cooking.
We use the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro 2 Burner Stove in our small camping van with a pullout kitchen. It folds down perfectly into our setup, and when it’s time to cook, the flip-out legs support a spacious cooking area with two burners. We recently camped outside of Leadville and the stove performed well in various weather conditions, though the wind sometimes posed a challenge due to the less effective windscreens. The burners provided great heat for boiling water for coffee in the morning and cooking pasta in the evening, with independent flame adjusters allowing us to boil on one side while simmering on the other.
One feature we didn’t realize we’d appreciate so much is the flexible regulator hose, which makes maneuvering fuel canisters easy and keeps them out of the way while cooking. Cleaning is also simple, thanks to the non-stick boil-over tray and the ability to lift the grill. However, the stainless steel surface can be difficult to keep spotless, especially with greasy fingerprints. The stove lacks a built-in handle when closed, so a carrying case (not included) is recommended for easier storage and transport.
Overall, we’ve had a fantastic camp cooking experience with the GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro 2 Burner Stove. Its ultra-compact design when stored makes it a perfect fit for our small van, and it offers powerful, versatile cooking performance.
The GSI Outdoors Pinnacle Pro 2 Burner Stove is $249.95.
